Magnesium Rims.. Performance gain?

Im thinking about getting some magnesium corvette rims.

Have you noticed any performance gains with them?

Do the vettes with magnesium rims run noticeably faster in the 1/4?

list from GM is almost $1,100 per rim........totally not worth tit. IMO, anything without a gm stamp (replica's) totally 2nd rate.

Thanks for the reply guys...
Not to seem too much like an *******
but it seems like I never get the answers to the questions I ask in LS1 tech when it should be the place that has the answers.

Im just want to know if there is a gain. Links to Test results of the rims on a corvette maybe? personal experience. I do have money to burn but i'd find them used.

Ill look into them....

ive just been on a "blow money on the z28" mood...

Im trying to spend it on stuff other than nitrous since im not even done doing the new heads and cam set up.

Trying to gain some performance without stressing the engine more for right now

there is a gain in the 1/4, i can't back that up with numbers cause i don't know them, but i do know there's a gain...now if the .2 (est) is worth $1100 a wheel, i don't know, that's for you to decide. you checked eBay? i'm gonna go with some kind of light racing wheel but not factories

your thinking right, I would say to look around and do some research on wheels. I think somone did have a site with wheel weights.

Along with those thoughts, look into lighter weight flywheels as well..

http://www.wheelweights.net/

Heres one that has z06 rims and a bunch of others on it..

Looks like zo6 rims weigh around 20-22 lbs or something...

Can anyone give a ballpark of magnesium ones? I thought i saw them at 15.8 lbs a long time ago??

I was under the impression that wheel weight was diff, in that any weight that is rotated has a greater effect than "dead" weight. So if our wheels weigh about 40lbs and then the Z06 Magn weigh 15.8 lbs, thats 60lbs rotating, I would think 60-80lbs of dead weight would make a diff, prob at least 2 tenths. But if you change wheel/tire height I think all the math gets thrown out the window due to it taking more tourque to push a 18in wheel than it does a 16in wheel. Thats my understanding of the whole thing. Correct me if I'm wrong.
