That's a truck?

Gonna try to pull the 6.0 out of this mess... I'm assuming its a LQ9 block. I'm still not sure if its the LQ4 or the LQ9, so does anyone have any helpful info?

Depends on what kinda of truck that is and what you're doing with it.

It's a 99 2500. Just gonna pull the engine out for the block if its worth it.

That's an LQ4. LQ9 went into the Silverado SS, Ecalades, etc. Not the early 2500 trucks.

Ok, so the only difference between the LQ4 and the LQ9 was the slightly higher compression ratio on the LQ9 right? Is there anything else different?

That's pretty much it if you're looking to build it up anyway. Are you making a forcefed motor out of it for an F-body? It's basically the same as the LS1/LS6/LS2 motors and all are interchangeable without too much problem. That motor with an LS6 intake manifold, full exhaust, blower and a blower cam can make upwards of 500 rwhp.

Early LQ4s like the 99 will have the much less desirable (worthless) iron heads. Later 01+ got the same heads as the LQ9, 317 castings. LQ4 got dished pistons, LQ9 flattop. Also on that engine, the crank length will cause problems in most applications - it's truck specific. Works great with a 4L80E, but any other trans and you will need to work around it. Manual trans?

Again, the only worthwhile part is the block if not damaged. It might make a nice 408 foundation.

ORLY? I've never heard of that, although I've only used/seen LQ9s in buildups. But, yeah, you're right on everything else 100% -- I totally forgot about the throw-away iron heads.. Ugh.

Like the iron heads, it's only on the early LQ4s. The 4L80E and TH350/400 bolt right up. No custom converter or flexplate necessary. The T56 will NOT work.

That's pretty lame. Never have been a fan of the automatics...

I think you might be able to use an LT1 T56.
