I was told that some people have put teflon tape
on their LS1's knock sensor to aid in reducing KR.

Would that be a mistake to do or does it work?

 

I would bet that how tight it is makes more difference than what you seal it with. It is going to grind its way thru the sealer to ground at all the high spots anyway. With pipe dope or teflon tape, if it is loose, it will probably be less sensitive. The only real way to tell would be with an o-scope.

 

I have heard that teflon tape on the can cause a KS code to be thrown causing a poor ground connection.

The response of the knock sensor to Teflon tape on an LS1 motor would best be asked in "LS1 Tech".
