strange noise after lid install?

after install of TSP lid, i started her up and let her idle for a few minutes. for the first minute or so, i heard a kind of whining noise. tracked it down, coming from exhaust. after about a minute it went away. haven't heard it since.

was this just the computer relearning some variables with more air flow? should i worry about it? anyone else heard this noise?

thanks

I think thats the fuel pump. Mine does that too, even before the lid, it's normal.

Could be the air pump sucking air thru the breather tube at start-up.

2001 NBM Z28 - it's a 99, don't have the breather tube.

ferocity - i have never heard this noise before the lid install. also have never heard it since the day i installed.

probably not a big deal, just curious...

How loud is it. Is it like a faint blower whine? Thats what mine is like. I think it might be the AIR system, the FP is only on for a couple seconds. When I come to a stop I hear it also, but right when I stop it turns off. I don't care what it is as long as the engine isn't on fire, which actaully mine is getting close to doing (if you rear my other thread)

yeah, i read about that temp thing. sorry i can't offer any advice. good luck with that.

don't want to sound like i'm shooting down all your suggestions, because i am grateful for them, but i do know what the AIR system sounds like (i'd like to get rid of it, man that hissing noise pisses me off!) that's not it. and pretty sure it's not the fuel pump, i can hear that at times. this sound was one that i've NEVER heard in the 4 years i've owned the car. and then it just went away after a minute. probably no big deal. just thought that our computers might need to relearn variables, possibly the A/F ratio when it sees more air all of a sudden. maybe that minute long noise was the computer relearning something...

thanks for the input...

Well I guess I'd have to hear the sound first hand to see what it is. I wouldn't reccomend removing the AIR system, especially since we have to pass emmisions

I do all my stuff in Roseville, Granite Bay, and Sacramento. Auburn doesn't offer many of the great strores that are in these places. All my friends live in Granite Bay too.
