stock exhaust tubing?

stock exhaust tubing?

I am wanting to cut the cats off my car untill I get my headers installed. What size tubing will I need to put in place of the cat. 1998 ls1

its a difficult install. The difficult part is getting them in place. It'll take a few hours. There are lots of install guides onliine though. Check with shoebox's site.
Also most people replace the motor mounts while they're at it.

i measured the Ypipe on mine the other day....at the request of someone (maybe the original poster...it was on AIM) and it was 2.25"


as for headers...they are not mechanically hard to install. they are logistically. you have to get the car way up in the air, and some of the bolts are hard to get to.

here's my comprehensive install guide...i know alot of guys who have used it and said it was very helpful

It's not bad at all. If you don't usually work on cars, just have a friend over to help that does. I'd prepare to spend a whole Saturday working on it incase you need it.

I recommend the Pacesetter coated long tubes.
