It seems it's not just the SLP lid that can rub the hood, other lids have done the same thing.

My direct flo has minimal clearance. If I have the hose clamp the wrong way, it rubs too.

Yes!! My SLP air lid and Strut tower brace both rub the hood. However, I think it only hits will driving and doesn't actually rub constently.

Yeah, your probly right the lid don't rub constantly, but on my ss it has rubbed enough over the past year to take the paint off the bottom side of the hood in a nickel sized circle. On the lid itself I have the paint thats rubbed off the hood on the highest part of the lid.

I ordered my SLP Lid today and I was concered about the same thing. I have a Ultra-Z hood (similar to the TA's but for a Z28) and with my stock air lid it looked really tight thru my ducts. Any one else have or know anyone with the same kind of hood with a Lid who could assure me? Thanks.

Would shimming the hood hinges between the hood and the hinge bracket raise it enought to stop that? I really don't want to rub the paint off of my hood, but I would like to replace the lid with an aftermarket one.

My SLP lid rubs slightly on my SS hood too. I took a small square piece of thin black felt tape and attached it to the underside of the hood where it was rubbing. It's doesn't look bad and it's easier to replaced the little felt piece once in a while than repainting the underside of the hood.

mine doesn't rub. here's a question though - are you sure the tabs on the back of your lid are IN the slots and not ON TOP of them? because mine was an absolute beeyotch to get the tabs tucked into the slots and I know it would rub if they weren't. if they are in the slots like they should be then depending on how your hood sits maybe you could adjust the bumpers up a little bit so it sits slightly higher when closed.
