Significant HP upgrades for $4200 or less
Hello all.
I'm looking to make a significant horsepower upgrade to my SS, and I'm working with a $4200 ceiling. Anybody got any specific suggestions for me? Following shortly will be some subframe connectors, but those have got to wait a few weeks (unless I end up well under my maximum on this upgrade). Ideally, it will be an always-on HP upgrade (so NOS is out) that doesn't murder the engine.
Areas I've been looking at are superchargers and head/cam kits, but I'm willing to consider anything... my knowledge is still rudimentary, really. The more info the better, but I'm willing to dig for the facts myself if needed. I just wanna give this a new kick in the pants to I can give some of the other tweaked cars in town a run for their money.
In case it's important, it's got about 40k miles on the clock. Plus, if I get a big enough HP upgrade, the 4.10 gears can be swapped out for 3.73s or 3.42 as appropriate.
EDIT: Oh, one other thing... it needs to remain driveable on the street for pleasure cruisin, but gas mileage is not a huge issue. Just as long as it passes emissions.
Thanks guys,
Hot Pastrami

well here is what I would look at, minus the SFC's and STB.
--Torque Arm that relocates the tail housing mount. (Unless you want to continually Break the current mount. This may not happen immeadiately, but if you do Nitrous or SC/Turbo you will definately break it the first time you launch hard.)
--Stronger Tranny Mount. (Unless you want to wait for it to break)
--Heads/Cam of your choosing.
--Headers
--Tires (Drag Radials)
Also I would look at actually getting your car tuned by someone rather than hypertech. Someone with LS1edit
Oh and stay away from Larger MAF's and ported MAF ends.

H/C, LS6 intake, headers and some tuning should put you around 450rwhp. Give ARE or MTI a call and see what they can do for you.

Well, it looks like H/C is the way to go, with a few added items to help the car take the abuse of the higher HP. Anybody have any suggestions on where to buy/what brands of H/C to go with?
Thanks,
