Shorter belt to delete the power steering...
Shorter belt to delete the power steering...
..is this true, just heard it from a friend;
"Also, Roy just read an article that they swapped one of the belts on the LS1 to bypass the Power Steering (shorter belt) forgot the brand but part number is K-060512 & they gained 3/10th of a second & like 3-4 mph or something on an 11 second LS1 so they went from 11.7 to 11.4 so if your car was stock it'd prolly make 4/10th of a second or better cuz the faster you get the harder it is to get faster"
..his quote
BTW...what brand is this belt?
thanks

this is a Gates belt, i bought it for my car after reading the same article in hot rod magazine "engines", the belt is TOO short. try one that is about 1 1/2 inches longer. i havent gotten around to exchanging mine yet, so let me know how it works out.

No joke Mike. Phantom is right. I was a typo in Hot Rod magazine on the article about SAM (Jud Massingill and crew). The gain isn't too much.
Just got to ask me first next time...

your going straight, your not using your poweer steering anyway.. so bypassing it you expect to gain 30 hp?
