Angry SES light, Problem??? PLEASE HELP!

Hi folks!

I changed my oil last Saturday(Mobil 1, 10w-30 and AC Delco PF44 oil filter) and I put a new air filter(Purolator). On Sunday the SES light turned on. I reset the light that same Sunday and today(Wednesday) on my way to work the light turned on again. I pretty sure that the gas cap is OK. What other thing can be?

There is any way to read the codes without a scanning tool? I will appreciate your help. I'm new with these cars and I didn't expect that I will have this kind of problems. Thanks

I wish to have Auto Zone here in Puerto Rico, but we haven't. What is a good price for a scan tool? If I will have these problems is better that I buy a scan tool but think they are really expensive. Folks, please let me know. Thanks.

Exclamation

I haven't really paid any attention to the scan tools, but I'd suggest you take it to the dealer this time and have them read the code/codes for you. Costs you an hour's worth of labor.

Once you get the code, post here and I'm sure somebody can tell you as to what to do.

I am sad to hear about the problems you are having with your new car. But, on the other hand, I am not surprised at all, giving the first issues you had taken care of (gas tank, stereo etc.).

It sure sounds like the previous owner did not take good care of it and now you are paying for it.

Good luck!

Question

My friends, I want to know if there is a place in the internet where can show you the trouble codes numbers and what each of these codes means? For LT1 and LS1 engines. Thanks in advance.
