My SES light comes on every once in awhile, but goes away after a few engine cycles. It seemed to start happening after I descreened my MAF like an idiot, although I can't say for certainty thats what caused it.

Is there any way you could get the code read? Autozone does it for free.

The light didn't come on until after you cleaned it? Recheck everything and get the code(s) read - might be something else and just a coincidence.

The only way to know why your SES light is on is to have the codes, it may have something to do with the MAF cleaning you did or it might not. A garage or parts store should be able to pull the codes for you.
