security light=no start?

security light=no start?

couldnt get the car started, noticed there was a security light and the car seemed dead as far as ignition is concerned....security light went off and I could get the car started.....

whatsa up with that

Look it up in your owners manual. When I first got my car I panicked... It's just a factory feature to prevent the car from being started. It is engaged when you turn your key backwards to use the radio or something. I think it sits on for about 3 mintues after that youre fine.

yeah, I panicked pretty quickly but it started up after a bit of waiting...I dont know what the hell made it do that tho

Happened to me and it was because my chip in my key went bad.

Usually the Security Light indicates that your computer could not detect the resistor(the "chip") in your key. This could be an indication that either your resistor in your key is bad or that the electrical contacts for the pellet in the ignition cylinder lock are going bad.

Shoebox does have a writeup for bypassing this(should it get bad enough) until the cylinder lock can be replaced.
