Angry Replaced Alternator.... Still Squeals!!!

So today I replaced the alternator. Ive already replaced the belt like FIFTEEN times. I replaced the water pump. I replaced the tensioner and pulley. I replaced the idler pulley. The only thing I haven't replaced is the harmonic balancer and power steering pump. Those are next. I am madder than hell, I dont think its the PS pump but what are the odds my balancer is shot? I'm going nuts here guys, I'm on the verge of selling this thing because of this. Its driving me insage!

It's a brand new GM pump, replaced by the dealer under warranty. I'm madder than hell about this.

Does it squeal on startup, then go away after a minute or two?

Yes!! I ordered the parts from Dal, I had a copy of the TSB, and I replaced the parts. Didn't help a bit. The squeal is on startup, and if it went away in a minute I wouldnt care but it squeals all the way until the engine reaches normal operating temp.

I feel your pain bro.
Ok, do this for me. Go and turn the AC on and see if the squealing starts/stops. I had my wifes Montero do this and after getting mad as hell I finaly run across a tech that diagnosed it and the AC compressor bearing was shot...thus causing the squeal.
Try that and let me know

Mike

If I take the belt off the squealing stops.

Mike,
Crank the car up with the AC off. If it does not squeal then turn the AC on. If is starts squealing then it is the AC.
I hope Im wrong because a new AC compressor is oh about $1000 bucks.

Later

I think it's the belts. If you spray some armor all or an equivalent to armor all on the belts, the squeling will stop. I had a squealing in a car and I tried all kinds of things from belt dressing to changing the belts but the squealing kept coming back, until a mechanic recommended spraying armor all all over the belt, inside and out and all over the pullies and in the puley grooves and I tried it and the squealing never came back. Try that.

yeah that's not a good idea, that's like putting armorall on your motorcyle tires...you'll bust your ***!!! i'm gonna go with the whole A/C bearing theory...that sounds the closest to being right if you changed everything else, including the belt, with quality parts...

IT's not the AC stuff... If I take off the serpentine belt the squealing stops. I'm gonna put the old alternator back on tomorrow I think. Any chance it could be the power steering pump? Oh yes, about using quality parts- I only use AC delco parts, except the alternator which is a rebuilt delco one.
