Question Replace stock muffler with Spintech?

I just bought a 2000 Z28 and after driving my Dakota R/T with a Spintech exhaust for the past year the Z28 is just to quit to me. Could I get a Spintech muffler and just replace the stock Z28 muffler and keep the rest of the exhaust stock? I'm just looking for something with a little more sound but nothing to loud that will get anoying for a daily driver. Does Spintech make a muffler with single in and dual out so I could keep my tail pipes?

do a search in this forum, using "exhaust" as the keyword. you'll get boat loads of threads on this topic. you have many choices as to the brand of muffler or catback you get, and many people have their own opinions on how they sound. i've never heard of a spintech application for a Z28. some of the big names to check out for the camaro are borla, corsa, SLP, GMMG, flowmaster, and others.

it all depends on the sound you're looking for. if you want a very loud and unrefined sound (which is how a pushrod small block should sound, IMO) go with a cutout. very cheap, and very loud. if you want something more refined sounding, refer to the search i mentioned above. also, some of the sponsor pages that sell these catback systems have sound clips so you can hear how they sound.

as far as sounding mean during acceleration, but not so loud at idle or cruising speeds, i would recommend the flowmaster muffler. that was my setup before the cutout. i couldn't even hear the thing at idle, but at WOT, you definitely knew it was there. not too bad at freeway speeds, couldn't hear it at all in 6th gear.

good luck, welcome to the board.

Just go to Spintech's site ... they have a design matrix that will tell exactly which one of their mufflers will fit ... M

Thanks for the welcome and the help. I have done a shearch for exhaust and found some good information in the past. I was just wanting to keep things simple for now and see if I could just replace the muffler with a Spintech.

I recently put a spintech on my 35th LE and if you want great sound during accell but not much noise otherwise, this is your muffler. I bought my replacement muffler from gofastparts.com. I can't remember how much it cost but I think it was around $100.00.
