Removing resonator from SLP exaust

I want to remove the resonator that is supposedly in the muffler of my new SS. I understand that the cars have to be quieter to be able to be sold as "new" so SLP puts a silencer in the muffler. Problem is, I cant get the muffler off. Seems that the clamp has put a nice groove in the metal that doen't want to give way. I can move it every way but off. Any tips, I'm sure someone has taken there catback off before. Thanks

Take the clamp off, insert a small screwdriver in the slot between the two pipes and bend it (be careful) a little bit...all the way around... then use a bgger screwdriver and do it again...then spray WD40 in the slot and move the muffler.... it will come off ... at least it always worked for me with my Flowmaster...

Just leave the muffler alone

That RESTRICTOR (called the cone of silence) was only in the 96 SSes and some of the 97 SSes. The 98 and newer SSes don't have it at all.

The RESONATOR is built into the SLP Loudmouth exhaust which has no muffler just a resonator.

Hope that this clears things up for you.

What he said, the 98 and newer SSs didn't come with the cone.

Sounds good to me. Lot less work I guess. Just seems awful quiet.
