rear end?

Ok stop reading this if your going to go crazy about posting this in advaced tech, for some reason its the only forum that will load, ls1 tech and the rest wont, just this one, I dont know to much about rear ends, i bought the car will most of the mods done to it. I have SLP 3.73's and i want to get a nx wet kit in the spring. I have 405 Rwhp n/a so that should put me into the 500's, do you think my rear end will hold this power for mostly street use? Also just to cheak stock ls1 rear ends are 10 bolt right? thanks and again dont yell at me this is the only place i can get into at this time, and i want a good answer from someone that knows what there talking about. thanks
Joe

If you have a A4 and stay on street tires you should be OK. M6 and/or slicks and all bets are off.

Whether the rear handles it or not is more about how you treat it rather than how much horsepower you're running. If you're going to launch it really hard from a dead stop, sure it's going to blow eventually with that much horsepower. There's a guy on LS1.com, username is gonepostal, he has a vorteched ls1 with headers, and is making around 460 rwhp, AND he's got an A4 with 3.23s in a stock 10 bolt. He doesn't drag his car but he's had this kind of power for a long time and hasn't blown a rear. It's all about how hard you drive it.

Why you dirty S*B! Just kidding. My point was that the main difference between the M6 and A4 is that the M6 will shock the rearend more, especially on a launch. This being said, the above example would be proof that the stock rear can handle that kind of power as long as you don't shock it really hard. My biggest question is how much the 3.73 gearset can handle. I'm in the midst of building a 3.73 10 bolt rear that I'm going to run next summer and see if that can handle some hard launches on the nitrous. I'm currently running a 4.10 10 bolt and it hasn't blown yet but I'm not going to press my luck. I haven't sprayed it out of the hole in fear of breakage.

Yep, I've got the 315 Nitto drag radials too. They hook pretty good on the street but not so good at the track. I'm currently running a 100 shot but plan on stepping up to 150 next summer.
