All you FTRA owners

I bought a FTRA used, but it didn't come with the piece that seals off the front of the airbox. Any recommendations on what to use and where? I tried Home Depot but couldn't really find anything that looked like it would work. I've never seen what the weather strip really looks like, or how it clips on.......suggestions?

thanks,
mike.

Sorry not related to your post, but kinda new to this ls1 stuff. Is this FTRA system better than getting a lid and the FRA mod????

You can see a pic of it at www.fasttoys.net/ramairsystem.html It clips on the bottom edge of the metal cross frame. Don't know if you can get a good seal with just weatherstrip. Give fasttoys a call, I'm sure you can get one from them.

The FRA is needed to put the FTRA in the car. The lid can be used no matter what and is highly recommended. The FTRA is just an extension of the FRA down lower to the road so your engine gets a little more air, a little cooler, and a little more direct.
The cons are that part of your radiator is covered and some folks have cooling problems. Next, and far worse is that the FTRA turns your engine into a road sucking vacuum and folks have hydrolocked their engines by driving in the rain. In case you don't know what hydrolock is... You put water in your engine, it cannot be compressed, the engine tries though and you end up with anything from bent rods to a broken crank. Time for a new engine!
Something to think about.

Be honest here, that happens when you drive into a puddle of water that is more than a foot deep. I have driven in the rain with my FTRA and no problems at all. Then again, I don't floor it going into puddles like every moron on the street. Just use common sense and you'll be fine.
