Questions about 2000-2002 Z-28's
Re: Questions about 2000-2002 Z-28's
Well I wont be getting anything till this October now anyways but I deffinitely want t-tops. Thanks for all the input, hopefully Ill have a nice camaro to put in my sig by October!
Just drive it normal and you should not have any problems other than normal wear items such as tires/brakes.Shop around , you can find nice cars for a lot less than the one you mentioned.I found my car in the local paper for $9900.00,it's a 99 z28 m6,t-tops ,leather in mint condition and driven by a 56 year old lady!! GOOD LUCK.
Re: Questions about 2000-2002 Z-28's
got a 98 Z. love it! no major problems with it. regular things that go like my starter. But it was dirt cheep to replace, same with alternator. The ONLY thing I had to replace that cost anything really was the fuel pump and that was my own fault I ran it out of gas. But even then I paid $119 for the WALBRO pump and paid a guy $200 to drop it in for me, and it has worked better than ever since then. I paid 8k for mine though...hahha. No leather but has everything else even 12 disc changer, t-tops, 6 speed, had a borla cat back on it. (which I beached the car while doing something stupid and trashed, so therefore replacing it with an SLP. But serious......I love this car. I have a 01 monte and had a 2002 lincoln lsv8 for my more daily drivers and this car has cost me less than either one of those, including the this I messed up myself. Take car of it and it will take care of you
about the whole thing about the K&N filter and slp exhaust and the alarm....I mean it is cool. But if it came into a dealership and the guy expected more on trade it on it because he threw on and alarm and a filter....they would laugh in his face. In the end unless you do MAJOR mods on a car things like that dont add value to the car. (maybe personal value to you....and make you want it a little more) but don't let them realize that. You could do WAY better. I know down at our local GMC/CHEVY dealership (major dealership that tends to charge high prices because they can) have 3 LS1's one is a WS6 and two are 02 SS. On in patricular is black (MINT PAINT....NOT EVEN A CINGLE SWIRL) leather, t-tops, viper alarm, 373 rear, I mean this car is a beauty!!!!! They are asking 18.999 sticker for it....and that is with a 12 month warranty (6 month bumper to bumper) and that is STICKER. There is only 19k on it...actually it is like 19,998 miles on it...so more like 20 k I should say. But either way, if you could get that car for that....just remeber to watch how much you spend on that one.

from what i've heard. the hard tops are less common than the verts.some where there are production numbers. maybe 30yrs from now, we'll all wish we'd bought hard tops.

K&N Filter a mod? No.. Should it add value? HA! it hurts performance! heck no its not a value!
If I bought the car with an alarm on it, I would wonder how many transmitters were hooked to it...
SLP exhaust? Never.. Stainless steel is crap. I would rather have a true dual setup if I were going for exhaust. Aluminized Steel has much better strength than SS when exposed to heat over time.. Stainless becomes more brittle and will fall off..
Re: Questions about 2000-2002 Z-28's
I agree, mods usually do not add any value, especially on a trade in.
For stainless, SLP uses cheap stuff that will show corrosion. The more expensive SS catbacks use a higher grade that holds up well.
On the flip side I had an aluminized dual set up on my 70 SS for 11 years and it was several years old when I bought the car so it does hold up decently. I'm sure that depends on what area of the country you live in. I also wouldn't expect aluminized to do well up north where winter is longer than the 2.5 month winter in Houston and they salt the roads.
