Questions about 2000-2002 Z-28's

I am looking at buying a newer model Z-28 and had a few questions. I am a college student in need of a dependable yet fun car and I love camaros. My problem is that I can't afford to fix anything major (like suspension, or injectors etc.) as I don't have much time or money especially durring the school year. What I need to know is if I get a newer Z what will the maintnence be and what should I expect as far as any trouble with the engine and drivetrain. I know stuff happens I am just looking at the effectiveness over the next two or three years getting me to college and back... hope this makes since. Thanks in advance.

As long as you leave it stock, you will only have to do regular maintenience and it will hold up just as well as any three year old car.

Holy Crap! frmula1..You're back!! How was the trip??

Anyway, Yeah... DON"T BEAT ON IT! Roll off the throttle and be easy on the harsh shifting and it will prevent you from replacing the glass rear. I drive mine hard about once a week, for no more than a half an hour to an hour and I'm fine. I replaced the stock TQ arm and noticed the bolt holes starting to oval out on me... (M6)

Other than the rear and the car payments, the car is pretty dependable. LCA clunks, noises, rattles, etc.

if you get an auto you don't realistically have to worry about the rear end blowing up in stock form, unless you put drag radials on it of course. very rare for a completly bone stock A4 f-body to blow its rear end on street tires.

Wow that's expensive. Hope the mileage is the same as the price.

Actually it has about 33,000 on it and it is spotless. The guy who owned it also put a K&N filter and SLP catback as well as an aftermarket sound and alarm system on it. Its at a dealer so I guess its worth it.

What`s it worth to you is the question. I just bought my 2002 SS for $18K. However this was a private sale, and it didn`t have common options like t-tops and leather interior. The price sounds reasonable.
Don`t stress too much about breaking things. Just drive normally and you will be ok. I had a supercharged `99 Firehawk that dynoed at 465RWHP. I put drag radials on it and put about 10 passes on it without problems, and this was a six-speed with the stock rear! However, I wouldn`t try that too many times.
Also, I just sold my `95 Z28. It had over 153,000 miles on it when I sold it, and still ran strong. The new owner says he may have to replace the clutch, but it still may be the original. I never had problems with the rear, and it was still a great car even with that mileage.

Didn't mean to scare ya, w/ the rear end thing.... Yeah, just drive normal you'll be fine...

I picked mine up in Jan 2003 w/ 19K on the clock for $19,500... It was mint too... All the options..except leather... Nice cloth interior..

You'll love it!! The WS6's are great!! Beautiful car, MEaN looking front end!

Re: Questions about 2000-2002 Z-28's

I am at 61K miles and I have only had to change the oil and the battery just recently..

I feel I may do a rear end lube as its starting to whine when cold so it may be low on fluid..dunno.. but all that aside.. No issues.
Kewl huh?

Ive done it in my 1995 Z28.. now I wasnt STOCK but the engine still wasnt putting down LS1 numbers.. I was on street tires (Yokohama AVS Intermediates (not made anymore)) and it grenaded the rear end launching out of a toll booth.. I will never recommend Auburn rear ends because of that.. Replaced with a Strange and never had a problem afterwards..

Heh, yeah! I had to look twice at the window sticker. This is the first one I`ve seen like this. Not that I am complaining. I actually prefer cloth over leather, and I wanted a lighter, more stucturally sound car anyway since this is just going to be a daily driver.
