A question for the ages: SS or Ram Air??
a Z28 is the cheapest of the LS1 bunch, SS/Z28/TA/WS6/Firehawk.
However it is quite capable of outperforming any of the WS6/SS bunch in stock form due to motor variance without all the extra attention from the cops the ram air hood brings. I tell you b4 I got the SS hood, I used to drive by cops all the time they would never look at me twice. but when I got the SS hood cops used to stare me down like I was a murderer. Its just with the hood ITS 99% a V8, cause there are those with hoods on a V6. But w/o the hood it just looks like a V6.
BTW I got a Z28 cause I too am a Camaro guy. Something inside always says shoulda gotten a WS6 b/c of the way Ive seen people gather around and look at one, but its not what I look at. I like the sleeker look of the Camaro. Its not who looks at your car its what you think when you look at your car. I love Camaro's and always have, now when I look at an LT1 Camaro after owning an LS1 I ? the appearance of the LT1 but I still remain true to the Z28.
Besides you say Z28 everyone knows its fast. You say WS6 very few people know what that is. Till I started shopping for an F-Bod only then I learned what a WS6 was. I used to think it was Firehawk or simply Ram Air TA. For some reason people seem to think that Camaro's are fast no matter what. But Firebird or TA and only the car educated know that those are fast.

I personally like the looks of an SS over WS6 but I do like the WS6 Ram Air Look versus the SS's ram air...
One thing I agree with is the fact that SS's get more attention when it comes to police because from what I came to the conclusion, is probably from the First Generation Fbodys, where for example the z28 had let's say 300 HP stock form and the SS had 350 HP stock form, cops still think that since it is a SS that it has More Power plus it is not too often that you will see a newer SS (in my area) compared to v6 and z28 camaros.. Also not too many people in my area has a WS6, I finally seen the first one in Goleta last night, was a 99 30th Anniversary Model, white w/ blue stripes and blue wheels (sweet A$$ car). When I was working on Pt. Mugu Naval Base, a guy that I worked with had a 02 WS6 and there were 2 others on the base, most of the newer Fbodys were either Camaro Z28, V6 and I did see 1 Formula on the base as well but no SS for 4th Gen but there were a couple of 1st Gens and 2nd Gen SS...
Plus with one guy in town, has a black SS, it is hard not to notice his car since it is Black w/ red SS emblem on back of car, so that helps it stand out as well, compared to say a black z28 where you would just notice the red bowtie and harder to notice z28 emblem as well....
