Hey Jason,
I had that slight ticking sound after I installed my SLP L/T's on my '99 SS.
I had shims made for the "air tube". I don't know what it's called exactly, but on my receipt, it reads 'fabricate and install air tube reducers".
Anyway, they worked.

yes it will go away, but you will have an ses light.
do the shims...someplace there is a description of it...maybe www.installuniversity.com or www.ls1howto.com or www.ls1camaro.net
