Question

Piece of crap battery..... It died tonight.... needed a jump start.... It died again when I got home..... I just need a new battery right? Or is it the alternator? It only has 26,000 miles on it and it reads fine when i'm driving, it just seems as if the battery can't maintain it's charge.

I'd say your POS battery did it's job pretty well if it is the original. Don't expect them to last more than 2 years in hot climates.

You should just need a new battery. It sounds like the alternator is doing its job.

Yeah, it's the original battery.

I had an AC Delco battery in my last car, lasted 5 years and still cranked like crazy when I sold the car... outstanding reliability.

Too bad I can't say the same thing about my AC Delco battery. It's been in hot climates all it's life, so I guess it's done well.

Can anyone tell me if this is normal?

I installed a new battery and fired the SS up. It idled very low so I gave it a bit of gas because it seemed as if it was going to die on me. After a while I left it alone at it's low idle and after a few seconds, it went back to where it normally idles. I let it run for a good 10 minutes after that.

Was the car just re-learning it's idle?
