Re: Qtp Headers?

they are the best as far as HP, my brother has them on his carf, but they tend to have leaks where they attach to the y pipe that u have to get upgraded 3 inch bandclamps, and there are 4 band clamped joints at the y pipe. So getting these to work is a bit more hassle than other brands,. The best all around header is the Kooks, they have a very solid design, a little shorter long tubes, but they seal really well

Re: Qtp Headers?

i have qtps and i love them...no leaking issues (knock on wood). I even modified a tsp custom ory pipe to fit. quality is #1 and i guarantee you will not be dissappointed. From what i hear, kooks are just about the same as qtp all the way around. As far as which ones to get, i bought the 1 3/4" ones. The bigger ones are for higher hp apps from what i understand. They also come with the option of a high velocity merge collector which i haven't seen any of the other companys offer yet.
hope this helps

Re: Qtp Headers?

all long tubes, assuming the same size primaries and collectors, give the same hp gains...+/- normal testing error.

Re: Qtp Headers?

the qtps definately make more power, they have LONGER long tubes, and are truly equal length(which kooks are not) they make a few HP more than the kooks. In ls1 cars there is a lot of hp to be found in the y pipes, the majority of them just collide the gasses(hooker style). The qtp Y and kooks Y flow better, its jsut the qtp is prone to leaks

Re: Qtp Headers?

campared with pacesetters do you know how much more you gain with the qtp headers... i am really looking in to these because the seem to have great quality from what i have heard you guys post. i would honestly not like so cheap headers... some middle class ones at a reasonable price... any ideas, i would appreciate the input

I'm thinking there's no more than a 5 hp difference between the Pacesetters and the QTP's. Do you honestly want to spend 2x as much for 5hp? If you want a good header that'll last without spending the most, you might want to check the Hookers now that they offer stainless. Have someone fab up a y-pipe with a decent collector and you might be able to get everything you need for just under $1,000.

Re: Qtp Headers?

hey qtp guy, why do u cut corners so late in the game? the design and your construction, method and materials, are top notch, but why the cheap band clamps,? u charger so much why not include 3 inch long band clamps with your kit, 9 out of 10 people have leaks, my brother does and his were professionally installed at f body(in balt, MD). jAson the owner is already going around saying Kooks are the best, he became a distributer for qtp after he got my brothers headers, and they were his first pair to install, but the leak issue has him saying go kooks. Everyone has to upgrade to the 3 inch clamps. I had to go on the board to find this fix too, its not suggested by qtp. So I wonder why u would want a reputation for a bad product when its just the hardware making it bad, all that engineering going to waste. Just imagine someone who doesn't think about the 3 inch long clamp fix, they will have a leaky y pipe for the life of their car and will bad mouth the product. Others will also hear the leaks. Qtp headers are the best for power, hands down, but they are more of a hassle than other headers due to their cheap hardware(y pipe clamps). I wonder why a company claiming absolute quality and charging for it would cut this corner. I am a PR graduate of the university of MD, and i am trained to keep companies reputations top notch in their given public. Maybe u guys at QTP might want to hire me as a consulatant. i know the car enthusiast public

Re: Qtp Headers?

my headers where ordered by Jason at F body, not me directly, after he ordered my headers he became an internet distributer for the headers. SO u would think they would send him a set of ringers if anything, the clamps suppied by qtp are only one inch wide and there are 4 of them count 4 slip fit connectors on the y pipe assembly. Atleast 2 out of 4, maybe 4/4 were leaking on my brothers car 2 hours after install.. To get it to seal, he had to buy $50 worth of 3 inch long band clamps and they had to seal those with hi temp silicone. If u can get qtp's to seal right they make the most power. Maybe there are some car scientists out there that have the patience to mess with a y pipe for weeks with a lift, adjusting it by the millimeter, it MAY be possible to get it to seal right with the supplied clamps, but 9 out of 10 people i talk to have the same problem. Some install shops even claim the y pipe is defective, LOL. It may be, but then they must all have the same defect. Also its QTP claiming all this high quality, and they have it in the long tube headers, its just they forgot the Y pipe, which shows bad attention to detail, which is what they are claiming they are so good at. Why worry about smooth welds when they things doesn't seal, thast putting the cart b4 the horse, or maybe its just a marketing gimic
