Pulled MAF today and it looks like someone put pot pouri in it
OK, I am very freaked. I just bought this 2000 SS with 66k miles on it. Seems to run strong, no smoke, but today I pulled the lid and looked into the MAF. What did I see but about 8 small dried bugs and some little flowers (Very little 3mm) It looked like my grill after a long trip in the summer. I think that the previous owner broke one of the snapping tabs that holds the oval bellows to the resonator. I am not worried about the bugs and flowers, I am very worried about what got by. The guy lived on a dirt road and there was fine sand everywhere and I am very affraid that sand made it into the engine
How can I tell if there is any dammage?

Good thing for the screen...But that doesnt make it any better huh If your anything like me it'll take you awhile to forget this one if ever.I'm sure theres nothin wrong but then again your recent post w/ the noises I'm sure your having a bad day.
I'd have the maf off and done some inspecting/cleaning by now,you prob. did hell you have already found this problem by checking stuff, like the other guy should have been doing I'll say it again"Some people dont deserve to have our cars if thats the treatment they give to it".
I dont know how to tell if theres problems other than have a good mechanic do a thorough check of all systems and maybe a compression check.
I want to say something possitive even though I dont know"It'll be alright, you got some work to do check everything...Its alright"

Ah #7 I will give the guy a little slack
He was a nice guy and I believe that his mehackit probably did the number on the airbox. He had almost every oil change recipt and I know those guys are always pulling the filter out to show you how
DIRTY DIRTY DIRTY
your filter is. This guy powerwashed the car everyweekend, powerwashed the engine every month and the interoir was brand new. I called him to let him know something and he said he already missed the car really badly.
I like the color of your road race car, I would love an SS in that color or the Quazar Blue Metalic, or Milenium Yellow
Is your race car an auto? If not what is that E60L option?

Technically the car is a Open track car that I road race school in,but cannot actually compete yet I'm still a student but am on my way to a Competition License. That car handles extemely well the way its set-up.Thanks for the comment. The pic in my avatar under SN is at Sears point in Sonoma Ca. The schools are a blast... as close as you can get to real racing w/o a Comp. Lic.At times 25+ cars on the track going at it,what a rush I'm an adrenaline junky.Like drag racing on the straights, and a whole buch of twistys to boot inbetween.Hot melting rubber and stageing lanes ,flags w/ corner workers.Passing is limited for the lower rung students and progresses as the driver jumps in levels.Theres four levels to complete before testing for a Comp. lic. will be concidered.
I can compete in Time Trials with this car,and have one coming in April, along w/ schooling the same day in the new Z28(I have 2 cars) which is my latest project to build into a road race car this one will actually see competition one day in the American Iron series of NASA nor-cal region.
The 4L60E is an auto found in Zs and v6s,it has a transgo shift kit HD-st.2-Competition off road kit big improvement to the trans lets ya shift it like a manual@any rpm any gear..when you want it not the computer.
