I was able to roll my drivers side window down once, and on the way back up it would stop (approximately, it was random). I had to wait about 5-10 secs before it could start again. I took it in to get fixed and they supposedly replaced the motor.

I get my car back from the dealer, and it's a lot better, but still pauses. I can go up and down about 3 times before it stops. The window travels up and down at the same speed it always has, it never slows down, just quits for a few seconds. Does anyone know what my problem could be? A loose wire on the switch? I have a 2001 and I had 24k miles on the original motor.

 

Have you tried the passenger side when the driver's side quits ?

The reason I ask is they are on a circuit breaker - if it overheats power is lost for a little while & then restored after a cooldown.

So, if neither one works I'd suspect that the driver's motor is probably tripping the circuit breaker.

If the passenger side still works, then I'd suspect a loose connection or possibly a bad switch - assuming the replaced motor is good.

Some guesses for you to explore ...

I've had the same problem. The window will go down and kind of pause for a splite second then on the way back up it will Stop completely for 30 seconds. Finaly it the window wouldn't go up or down. I brought it in and the motor had to be replaced. This happened twice, each time the motor was replaced. Now the window support broke in the car and the window rattles if it is not all the way up. The quality on these cars are very questionable. They don't seam to be built to drive everyday. At least not in Michigan. Luckily I've had no problems with my dealer. They fix everything under warrenty. After the warrenty expires I will probably sell the car. I've had too many little things go wrong with it.

 

Same thing happened on the SS...we've already had both side motors replaced...Take it in and have warranty take care of it (if you have it)...

I don't have an answer for you, and my problem is slightly different (everyone has problems with the windows, don't they?).

My just goes clunk-clunk-clunk as it goes up/down.

 

A common lament, its the power window motor, 9/10 times. Just be careful if you have after market tint. Ask me why I say this.
