Porting ls1 heads...
stik6shift98 - You don't really need to get the mirror-like finish. The only place it may be practical is on the exhaust side to prevent carbon build up over time. Even there, I think it would be excessive. On the intake side, the basic goal is to enlarge and smooth out the entry to prevent turbulance. It isn't gonna hurt to get the mirror like finish, but I don't think it would be worth the time and would get you minimal results. But if your willing to put in the time, go for it. A friend of mine did a set of stock Big Block oval ports, and it was WAY more time than he originally planned.

PS I just went to the T R site and saw the cam your buddy's runnin......I think I might call their tech line and enquire about that one also.........but as it stands the cam listed above is my present choice.
