Question Poll ! How much oil does your motor use ?

Me ?

I figure I am average - the car, too.

This last oil change was after 4000 miles - I had used 10W30 Wal Mart Full Synthetic.

I burned ~ 3/4 qt - no low oil lights or anything , and I wa still within the cross hatch area of the dipstick.

These engines apparently burn some oil by design ( low tension piston rings, high compression, etc.) , so I am not concerned , but curious.

Thanks !!

Britt

*Edit*

birdblack brought up a valid point - my car sees a good deal of "spirited" driving.
However, I assume most LS1 owners do so as well.

Talking

I own a Lt1 and I burn about a 1 quart every2000-1500 miles, but I also over fill my motor by a half quart.

I find that I tend to use a little oil with "spirited" driving around town but on a recent trip to FLA, cruising at 85-90 @ 1800 - 2000 rpm on the interstate, it hardly used a drop.

Generally use between half a quart and a quart of synthetic every 2500 miles. BTW, have 56k on the motor. Most of my driving is definately defined as " spirited " Many years from now I will probably have to have some therapy to help reduce this chronic case of lead-foot-itis I have developed since getting this car!!

My '98 doesn't burn any oil during normal driving. When I go to the track 3-4 times between changes I'll burn about 1/2 quart.

I am kind of worried, I drive my car like I stole it and it has 70k miles and doesn't burn a drop. The dip stick keeps showing that have the same amount I put in it but my change oil light has been comming on ever since I changed my oil, I think that may be a sensor problem though.
...yes I have tried resetting the light

My 95 has 47k on it and doesn't burn a drop. This is running synthetics which will definitely not burn like dino oil.

i have a 2000 Transam and my check oil light comes on after a 1000 miles after oil change, not sure how low your oil needs to get before that light comes on. Im actually taking the car to the dealer today for an oil comsumption test since the care is still under warranty.
