Instead of trying to post a reply for everybody's question on the last 3 pages of topics you could actually spned time with your Summit Catalog and the moeser site and get an ACTUAL price.

Heah just trying to help you from wasting your time and money but if you don't want help and just want to give your opinion then don't waste your time and ours by posting. Just hop to it and try to build it and then tell us what the final cost is and if it actually lasts.

I don't know where you got the $722 price from.

7H9FBT GM "F" Body Housing WITH Torque Arm Brkt $585/ea +shipping (bare Housing)
BP9HP2 Bolt-In Package - "F" Body WITH Torque Arm Brkt $920/pkg + shipping.

If you buy a center section from the yard your also going to run into the issue of your torque arm and driveshaft fitting right.

The 9" rear has been so universal for so long that hybrid U-joints are common. They have 2 GM bearings and 2 9" Ford bearings. I don't see this as an issue.
The torque arm bracket is designed to tackle the other issue you raise.

Sorry heard people having issues with aligning the torque arm correctly.

yes, it is definately possible. i am in the process right now.
1. moser engineering..... has the housing, trq arm bracket, and 31 spline axles for $799
2. currie enteprises ......has a differential (http://www.currieenterprises.com/htm...erPartsTSD.htm) for under $400
3. any gear will do.... under $200
4. u can use a pumpkin from any junk yard....$50-$100

so, that adds up to $1450-$1500

u dont need to get a detroit locker or a spool. that diff. has been very dependable to a bunch of guys i hang out with that run in the 10's with no problems.

got a buddy thats running a ktre 9". it had a standard pumpkin with im guessing a standard factory style posi unit.
after running the car approx. 10 passes, the pos units would burn out. he went through 3 of them before going to a detroit. he then busted the pinion support on a n/a pass (bolton LS1)
its doing ok now with a nodular pumpkin/detroit locker.
i think he gets around a mid 1.6x 60' or so.

whats moser getting for a empty 12 bolt housing/axles? bout the same?

the ford posi units he was running only had clutch packs on one side of the diff instead of both like in a 12 bolt. thats why they would burn out the clutches in them.

Personally i'd spend the extra $ and get a complete unit from moser for the peace of mind, rather than risking junkyard items.

Ive done this i my other car Moser sells a "housing and axle package" mine was $695 that got you housing ( 3" new tube) pair of axles your choice of spline, in your choice of bolt pattern, with wheel bearings and the wheel studs, they get $35 more if you want GM ends on the housing(witch you need if your running stock brakes). I looked into doing this for my f-body the torque arm bracket was additional, and the panhard rod mount was also more. I think there was also a few more bucks involved if you want to run stock disk set up. And shipping on top of that yet.
I used a center section out of a pick-up(free), richmond gears ($140 some)and a detroit locker ($410), timkin bearings from a bearing place($110)DO YOUR HOMEWORK, about $60 cheaper than checker, napa ect. My car runs LOW 1.6's to mid to high 1.5 60ft times and has been in the car 4 years and I haven't even looked at it, changed the lube every other year, these things when set up right are tough. I saved the labor also as I assembled it all my self. NOT that I would recomend someone with no experiance trying to set one of these up.
