People who've put motors in their LS1 cars... I have a ?

Alright... I've finally got it sorted out... I'm getting the short block from LS1speed (with the biggest cam I can get)... hooker long tube headers... a 3400 stall Midwest converter,I have a... "prepped tranny"... and the loudmouth.. (hogged out MAF, and TB... and all the free mods that have to do with air flow.. right Jeff??) ... and I'm just gonna have my heads "freshened up... with the new springs.. 918s?? what else do I need to know... we're just gonna take the radiator out... everything up front... and... well.. what else do I need to know when taking out... and installing a new motor?? I really need some assistance here... I've done 5.0 Fords... but no LS1s... so... how 'bout some input... or a link to a tech article.... thanks!

James

Maybe, like me, most have never done this mod
But I would think that pulling a motor is pulling a motor.

No doubt... that's what I'm hoping... my cousin is freaking out about the crank trigger... and saying it's gonna be a p.i.t.a.... but I don't think it's gonna be that hard... he said that if the short block doesn't come with a harmonic balancer, we could have some problems... heck, I dunno...

I can offer a little bit of help... The first 4th gen F-body motor I ever got the joy of removing was in a 99 Z28. I found that it came out the bottom pretty easily. We tried for awhile with a cherry picker on top, with no luck. Just make sure everything is disconnected, and drop the whole front subframe. You, 2 buddies, at least 4 jackstands and 2, preferrably 3 jacks can have it out in an hour and a half. Then you can remove the accessories, and use a cherry picker to get the engine off of the K-member and on to a stand.
