patriot 226 cam?

patriot 226 cam?
Anyone using this cam? what kind of numbers did it put down? Mods? A4 or M6? Is it worth buying, installing, and tuning for this cam or should I spring for a different cam?
Thanks,
Stephen

Yup, those are the basics. Help the motor spin/breathe easier and you'll see more power. An underdrive pully and electric water pump can be the difference between a 385rwhp car and a 400rwhp car (if you going to play the numbers game).

I bought this cam and I will try to get it put in over the holidays so I don't have any first hand experience yet, but I met a guy at a local car show who was running this cam and it sounded bad ***. He told me that it has very good street manners and pulled really good, this helped me in deciding to buy this cam! He said it ran Ok with the stock tune, but he had the car tunned and said that it was alot better afterwards.

I have a 226 grind (GTP420) with more lift and a 112 LSA in my daily driver. It is basicly everything you heard about the 224, just slightly larger. My car is a 00 SS M6, lid, LS6 intake, MAC headers, carsound cats, and catback. Other mods are suspension related.
It ran ok with the stock tune, except at idle. It has some decent power. Enough for me to get squirrelly from a roll once i got around 4800 RPM up in the first 2 gears. Had to lift twice while I was racing a modded Z06.
Supporting mods should include springs and pushrods too. You'll end up looking into an aftermarket clutch eventually too.
I haven't dynoed it yet, but another local guy was running a 226 grind and made a hair over 380 whp w/lid, intake, LTs, ORY, catback, tune, etc.
Not a bad grind, but it all depends on what YOU want out of a cam.

Thanks for all the replies, I have an LS6 intake, SLP lid, exhaust, and I will be putting longtubes on as well as 918 springs, pushrods, and a dyno tune. I would like to get a pulley and electric water pump but that may be a bit later on.
Heads would also be nice but they are very expensive, for good ones anyway.
They would be in the very distant future.
Thanks,
Stephen

"I would like to get a pulley and electric water pump but that may be a bit later on."
that $700-800 would be better used if you put it towards a set of budget heads.
there are a few places that do ported heads for about $1000...and will gain you MUCH more than a pulley and Wp combined.
