P0300 codes: Blinking SES and rough idle

Well I have a p0300 code being thrown. I know its a random/multiple misfire. I just changed the plugs and the wires look ok. How can I figured out where its coming from?

So to narrow it down, its either my plugs, wires or coil packs correct?

Hope to god its not a coil pack. I had bent my pushrods and it was doing all the above mentioned and was making a ticking noise. I replaced the rods and the plugs and its still doing the above mentioned. Any suggestions for me?

random wouldn't be a coil pack plug or wire. did u replace all the pushrods? sounds along the lines of a few bent valves. how high were u reving when u bent your pushrods

Find someone with Atap or EFILive and have them check which cylinder has the misfire and then TS from there is your best bet. Bad connections of the plug wires can cause Misfire. I also have a 2000 Trooper. It uses a GM PCM and my EFILive works with it. I was having misfire on 1 and 3. The engine has the individual coils, but the wire is a spring between the coil and the plug. It ended up being a bunch of gunk stopping the spring making connection. So check to make sure all you wires are clean and making good connection. If that doesn;t work, compression check the engine. Should tell you if you have a bad valve.

could be low fuel pressure as well i think

i'm still fighting a random (very random...works for a month...then misfires for a few days...then goes away again)

definately figure out which cylinders are misfireing the most...

i know mine started out misfiring on 5, 7 and 8...
now it's just 5 and 7

Well I figured out how everything got broke, the truth. My friend who was driving it miss 4th gear and hit 2nd. Im so damn stupid. I have no idea why I didnt figure this out earlier. He told me that he shifted to 4th and the car jumped and the low traction light came on. If thats not easy enough to figure out I dont know what is. Damnit! Not I have to rip my F*ckin heads off and replace valves. How hard is it? What all do I need to do this job? Special tools? Gaskets, bolts etc?

And I know I should do it myself, but how would it cost to have a shop or dealership do it? Just asking so I can weigh my options.

Check out ls1howto.com for detailed instructions, parts list, and tools required. Great write up. I used it twice.

This is the exact reason why I don't allow anyone to drive my car. Is he going to give you any money, or at least help the teardown and build up?
