Looking on ebay for some simple mods. first the slp air lid...is the 98-99 different from the 00-02? I've heard it both ways does anyone know for sure?

Second I have a single exaust on my 98 SS. It has been determined through this wonderful forum that 98 did in fact come with a single exaust (I mean single. one outlet from the muffler. just want to clarify this.) The exaust sounds great, not too loud, but you still know it's a mean V8. My question-Is this an upgrade or the base exaust for 98.

 

The '00+ air lids are different because they have a little hose coming out of the right side of the lid. The '98s and '99s don't have this hose.

If your car just has one exhaust pipe coming out the back, it's not stock. A stock LS1 car has one pipe going into the muffler and two pipes coming out.

 

Yea my 98 in stock form came with two outlets from the muffler.

 

98ss has single exit muffler.

 

Thats because you have a Z28. The '98 SS's came with a single 3.5in out the driverside, unless you got the optional SLP exhaust like I did. WS6 cars for '98 also came with the single out.

 

Any aftermarket lid will fit. The only exception is the SLP lid for 00-02 it has a hole in you don't need.
98 SS exhaust has the same I pipe as the Zs but has a freer flowing muffler. Not quite as free flowing as some of the aftermarket ones but good.
