I keep mine in D from 0-65mph and city driving, highway speeds it goes into OD. I just don't like idleling all over town because it sounds like my engine is working harder to maintain that minimal speed at such low RPM.

Also, if you're in stop-and-go traffic a lot, it's just another wasted shift, and it's going back and forth from 3rd to 4th to 3rd, etc. In and among, the converter will also lock up (even in 3rd) so for the "fuel savings" in those conditions, I leave it in 3rd and save the tranny from too many unnecessary shifts
.BUT, the average driver puts it in OD (4th) and leaves it there, and there's really nothing wrong with that either
