Is it safe to...

Descreen both ends of my MAF Sensor? I've heard it can cause problems on 4th gens? Should i do both ends or just one?

Don't worry about it. More problems than it's worth

The screen is only on 1 end.
Do not do unless you're prepared to possibly run lean and lose power.

The screen is there to smooth the airflow entering the maf so it can get accurate readings. It's not usually a good idea to remove the screen.

It's really funny isn't it???

Guys it doesn't hurt anything to pull the screen out of the MAF. Porting it may cause the above stated problems but pulling the screen will have no ill effects.

From what I've seen/heard messing with the MAF isn't a good idea.

For those that have done it, does anyone have some statistics showing the difference (before/after)? Does it even do anything?

Honestly, i didn't notice anything i also have an air/fuel gauge in my car and mixture is still the same. Performance wise the gain is so small you won't feel a difference.

I have a descreened and ported MAf that made my car run really lean and detonate.
Removing the screen will do nothing for you.

And you know that I do too Dave but it's a real crap shoot. I think that the 98s are more tollerant to this mod than the later years.
I have the ported one on the H/C car now but it is tuned for it.

If I were to go out and pick up another LS1 f-body I would pull the screen but I would not port it or buy ported ends.
