I have a 2000 Camaro SS with a TR 224/224 563/563 114 with SLP long tubes, B&B exhaust, 36 lb injectors, computer tuning. 375 RWHP

I was thinking about porting my heads and getting a LS6 manifold, but was not sure if the price was worth the power. I wanted to see if anyone has this same cam and what you have done and what kind of power you got from it. Also if anyone had any other recommondations to get better power for the buck.

well cams need to breath so getting a new lid for your car is a must since the stock one is so restrictive... and the ls6 intake well improve your power a bunch since the ls1 intake is sufficient for lower horse power motors... the ls6 has a longer plenum volume and longer runenr legthns which allows it to work better with cammed motors.

 

yeah the intake lid is like 100 bucks off slp and the new ls6 intake manifold is around 300 used and 400 new. both of these should get you at least a 20 rwhp gain together

 

I should have put that I have an SLP lid. Sorry about that. I have been hearing that the LS6 manifold was a good investment, and also wanted to know if I should just get my heads ported or buy new heads? My friend told me I have higher flowing heads than most 2000 Camaro SS. So I wanted to just get these ported or buy someother heads like AFR.

 

well i am no expert but i have been reading a good amoutn these days because i am highly considering a cam for my next big mod. all the heads for the ls1 engine are the same all around... he have have gotten it mistaken because he was thinking cams because the 98-00 cams are more aggrisive thand the 01-02. you have a smaller cam for the ls1 so there is no reason to port your heads... it should work fine there are people on this board like teke who has a bigger cam that you and has no ported heads.

 

the 224 cam with decent ported heads and all the supporting mods...

most guys average around 400-410rwhp

so assess those gains yourself and see if they are worth it.
