new here first post on this site. sorry about stupid questions. also not meant as spam but you guys may want to check out nastyz28.com lots of good info there.

i recently bought an LQ4 from my brother. he gave me an LS1 cam. two sets of stock pistons. pushrods. crankshaft (with 207K miles on it). i got the fuel injection setup and air intake. and pretty much everything else. putting it in a 79 camaro

now about my questions.

1.) if i switch to a carbuerated setup,which is my plan, do you still have to have a computer to run the coil packs. or is there a different type of ignition to buy.

2.) if there is a computer to run the coil packs, i that the only thing the computer will run or do i have to have the entire wiring harness.

3.) if at all possible i would like to switch to mechanical oil pressure, water temp, and other guages of the sort. where do i purchase these from.

4.) where do you purchase motor mounts and headers.

5.) is there any custom fitting I need to do to have my stock hood on it.

6.) do i need to make any modifications to the firewall.

if there is a lot of computer wiring to do i will just leave it as a fuel injected motor

im sure this same post has been made 100 times before me but i don't have time to search and find all my questions on the forum. any information would be greatly appreciated.

also if anybody has ever rear-mounted a turbo, information about that would be usefull to, or i may be the first person on the site to pull that one off.

If I'm not mistaken, MSD makes a kit to convert LS1s to a carb. Check out summit or jegs,.....or if one of the site vendors carries it, maybe they can chime in......

 

i found a kit from edlebrock that has an msd ignition with it. but its 700$ ill get it if i have to but id rather look for a used one or a different one. i still have all of the other things to look into tho
