Octane Question
I'm from Cleveland where high octane gas is normal, but i recently got stationed out here in Mountain home air force base Idaho (middle of no where), and the highest i can find is 91 or some times 92 if i'm real lucky.
I have hypertech programming and was wondering what it really messes up not running the correct octane. I have heard plugs and some other things but nothing that was for sure. also is octane booster a safe solution???
Help me !

i posted a question similar to this recently. everyone is of the opinion that 91 is just fine. i know that the hypertech wants 93 but here in cali. i have yet to find a gas station that sells better than 91. okay, unical 76 sells 100, but its almost $5 a gallon. have you tried the 91? do you get knock? if not i wouldn't worry about it.
by the way, once i filled up on the 100, and didn't notice any performance difference. i did get about 75 extra miles to the tank though.

I just hope this doesnt turn into another heated octane/octane booster debate. Im tired of them. Do a search and you will find plenty of info supporting both sides of the ever-so-popular octane question.
It is my experience that the HPP3 power tuning advances the timing too much for 91 octane in the warm weather. With the tuning in I was experiencing 3-4° of knock retard. You can pull the power tune and still take advantage of the other settings available.
In cold weather it should work fine.
And octane boosters are a joke.

Basically the cars computer could care less if you use 91 or 100 octane. Other then your butt dyno anything over 91 octane is wasting your gas dollars.
