Re: O2 Sim Question

like said previously--i''d get them edited out. i'd think you'd run rich not lean with no rear o2 readings cuz your car would remain in open loop. i have a set i used for under a week for sale for cheap. pm me for details.
just my .02--tony c

Re: O2 Sim Question

I always thought that the front 02's keep your AFR 14.7 and the rears are there to make sure your CATS are working. You should still go into closed loop

Re: O2 Sim Question

now i dont know what to do. how much does it cost to get them programmed out? where should i go to get that done? basically i want to run a normal fuel oxygen mix (not rich or lean). i heard that running lean can cause piston detonation. i dont want to damage my engine, so i want to do something soon (either program or O2 sims), so what do you think would be best, and cheapest? thanks

Your rear oxygen sensors do nothing except tell the computer that the cats are working properly. If you are referring to your front sensors, you are risking serious damage if you replace those with SIMS. The only thing you will gain with the SIMS is the check engine light on the dashboard will go out.

Re: O2 Sim Question

I have to get emmisions by the end of April and I was wondering if I should get a programmer like the predator to erase the rear o2's or if I should get the sims, does anyone know which would work? I live in Indiana so all they do is plug in under the dash and see if it throws any codes.

Re: O2 Sim Question

u have to keep the rear 02s to pass emissions, sims will cause u to fail , so i would reccomend getting emissions done before hand and then do what u want

Re: O2 Sim Question

ok so basically all the rear O2 sensors are for is cats? they dont affect engine performance at all? basically all O2 sims in the rear would do i get rid of the SES light? all im concerned about is my engine running healthy and strong. i dont have to worry about emissions where i live, so i just want to get the most HP from my header setup. am i running rich or lean with no rear O2 sims, or is it no big deal?

there is this thing called ready states, where the part of the car is performing what it supposed to be doing,

my car 97 has to pass 3 of 5 ready states to pass emission , im not sure what year they started but it think urs has to pass 4 of 5

teh rear 02s readings will not change with sims and this will cause it to fail

badazzz28 on the board knows alot about it ,ask him hell let u know ,

theres ways around this but u gonna have to knwo teh right ppl
