new to the ls1 scene....
Texas Speed is a good shop to use. I've done business with them a few times and never a problem.
Best thing I can recommend is to give them a call. Tell them about your setup, tell them what you are looking for. They are more than happy to give you some perspective and information.
You would be surprised with the exhaust setups. Clearance lurks in the back of peoples mind when it comes to header installs, but with the right parts installed properly, it usually isn't an issue. I remember I was worried with my Pacesetter when some people claimed to have clearance issues. However, with them properly installed, you can barely see a little bit of y-pipe hanging down below. It actually sits better than the stock LS1 piping imo.

Have you ever made a post without saying this exact same thing? Ur alleged "402 big block" sounds pretty "tame" to me.
A nice stall is a good mod especially if you plan on hitting the strip even with a remotely stock setup. I've never had an auto LS1, so I'm not sure what the ideal. I would think 2800-3200 range would be good.
The Kooks headers produce the best tone of all the LS1 headers IMO, definitely a quality product if its in your price range.
