New Cam (cam experts)

I have gone with a new cam that Patrick G is doing on another website. I got a 224/228 .637 .639 LSA 110 +0 on LSK lobes. I got the PRC terminator 200cc heads from Texas Speed. Tell me what you guys think about this cam and how it will do. Here are the heads specs:

ALL NEW PRC 200cc Terminator Series Cylinder Heads
Precision Race Components 200cc Ported Small Runner Cylinder Heads. Fully CNC ported Edelbrock LS1 based cylinder heads!

Dyno results with the competition valve job has shown over awesome horsepower & torque gains across the entire rpm range. The Edelbrock casting features a .750" deck thickness for big cylinder pressure applications! PRC uses complete CNC porting & CNC valve job technology to ensure each set of cylinder heads perform exactly like the previous set!

NEW Edelbrock Castings
2.021.575 Valves
PRC Double Valve Springs .660" Lift
Completely Assembled & Setup To Your Specs!!
200cc Intake Runners

I have all the supporting mods and bolt ons coming as well. The car is a M6 with Stange 12 bolt and 4.11 gears. It is getting a FAST 90/90 ported, EWP, UDP, All BMR products done, etc, etc...

Are you going to have the required PTV clearance with that cam? Seems like a lot of lift.

I should have the clearance from what is required; Texas Speed is said it was okay because it is an LSK lope.

Do what?

That cam is a little on the small side. You'd make more power with a bigger cam even though the LSK lobes are aggressive and it's on a 110 LSA.

Check your PTV clearance just to be sure, especially if the heads are milled.

Wow, I didn't know my post was a joke; is the cam I chose a small cam??? Is the cam I chose going to make great power is really what I should be asking and if it is so small then why should I be worried about clearance issues?

the duration is small. The lift is fairly large. He's saying you could make more power with a larger duration. 224/228 is fairly small. People pass smog in Cali in 224/228 cams (with smaller lift of course)...

Is there any benifit to my choice 224/228 over a bigger duration??? I was under the impression that 224/228 would hit at the lower RPM's and high lift would be good for torque.

if you want to keep your rpms low, the 224/228 is a fine cam, but we're just saying, if you already have a built motor, why not rev it higher?? You'll make more power and be possibly faster if you have a larger cam and rev higher...

Some love torque and that's fine for them. Do what you want and don't let everyone tell you want to do. But just be sure you know what you're doing when you do it.

I trust Predator to get you something you would like based on what you told him. The lift is a little higher than most LS1 guys are used to seeing for that duration, which is why you hear all of these comments. But with his knowledge of DCR and all of the other aspects that people overlook during a cam choice, I'd bet this is going to be a sweet cam that pulls quite hard all through the RPMs.

Resembles the grinds the Aussies are running. Short duration, higher lift and narrow LSA. The cams are torque monsters. One guy was running low 220 durations w/less lift and 108* LSA IIRC, and made 400 whp and it was all in by 6K RPM. Torque output was around 400 lb/ft also IIRC. Small cams numbers that can make the large duration cams blush and make them look slow if they're still running stock gears. Should be a fun street cam. I'd personally go with no more than .6" lift, but mine is a daily driver and I'm a bit conservative on lift.

Definately an "outside of the box" grind for the US market where bigger is generally thought of as better and anything else is just wrong. I'd love to try a narrower LSA baby cam. I'm currently running a 226/226 .590/.590 on 112.

LS1tech has some great info on this. Do a search for "baby cam."
