Need opinions on cam
Here's the deal.
The Comp R lifters in my motor aren't worth a damn, and are coming out due to extreme valve float issues I've been having past 5000 rpm. I'm going with OEM replacements. Needless to say, the heads have to come off, so I'm dropping the motor in 2 weeks to do the swap, and I'm also going to Absolute Speed Stage 2.5's with hand finishing done by Steve at Thunder Racing. My question -- should I go with a bigger cam while I have the opportunity? Right now I have the Futral F11 (228/230 .581/.591 112 LSA) It makes a ton of power, and is VERY streetable. That's the thing, I feel like I can go bigger and still have great streetability. Here's what I'm considering
F9 - 232/236 .585/.595 112
236/239 .600/.611 111 LSA -- Known as the "Ron Jeremy"
What do you guys think I should do???
Thanks

Valve flaot is generally caused by wrong or failing valve springs. Not lifters.
I run Comp "r" lifters and spin it to 6500 rpm all the time. I would spin it higher but I'm being cautious with the stock bottom end. After I change rod bolts this winter it'll be 6800-6900rpm shift points.
Do you have adjustable rockers? Comp "r"s need to have almost no preload so non adjustable rockers are terribly hard to set up right.
Re: Need opinions on cam
I run adjustable rockers, we've been through Jesel and Comp Pro Mags. Allan Futral spent a whole day on the car, shimmed the springs, adjusted the rockers, and had the same problem. It's not an uncommon one, lots of people talk about it on the boards and Telly from Futral told me the same thing happened to his car, and once the lifters came out, problem fixed. I'm gonna get rid of them regardless, I've seen 2 people in the past month who had a Comp R stick in the block and ruin everything.
