need more HP...

i have a 2001 camaro z28 A4. the only thing i have done to it is a magnaflow cat back exhaust, but i want to increase my HP more. i have been told that getting a cam would be a good idea but i have no clue what cam to get. and im also wondering what the best header and ORY would be to get. any help would be appreciated, thanks.

It's a sickness.............once you get a little you'll want more & more until you think that you'll never have enough. Weclome to the club........as far as I know a cure for what you have has never been found!

^ What's your ability level? Mechanically inclined?

A cam is a bit of a step for first mods..

Lid + Filter.
P+P'd TB
LT's
Free mods (check my stickey up top.. there's a Free mods section.)

Do some susp mods too to help you get that power you already HAVE to the ground a bit more efficiently. LCA's and SFC's first. .

Where do you want your power? Off the line? Up top and tach the **** out of it? How many miles on it? What do you think you may want to do eventually? Supercharger? Nitrous? N/A? Turbo? Stroker? Stock displacement?

Forget the more power concept. There are mods that will make you faster but will dyno lower. Build your car as a complete package.

Mod your suspension. More power is nothing if you can't put it down.
Put a looser converter on it. This will actually make you dyno lower (less power), but you'll run ~1/2 sec quicker ET's. Couple this with 3.73 gears and a trans cooler and you'll be much faster and yet never added any horse power.

This will also set the stage for when you do add more power.

Cam wouldn't be a good idea until you finished all of the supporting bolt-ons like:

Lid
Headers/Y-pipe
Free Mods
Gears/Converter
etc.

The Pacesetters are the best for the money IMO -- $389 for coated longtubes.

Seriously, do the convertor/cooler/shift-kit. It will be a different car afterwards...

Now it can exhale, next is inhale...intake, p&p TB, and intake manifold. Then it'll be time to bring out the big guns...head/cam swap.
