My Next Set Up

Here's my next set up:
T. converter 3200-3500
3.42 gears
Trans-go shift kit

How high should i go with the stall and the gears?? I havent really done any major mods and the car is a daily driver. Do u guys think it will go with the mods I have now on my sig??
I know Im going to need a super cooler for the TC, but Is there anything else i need to get for me to install the 3 mods listed above?

I think that looks good right there. The highest you want to go with gears is 3.73 but I think your better off with the 3.42 gears. You'll get better gas mileage and it'll compliment a 3500 stall TC and N20 better IMO.

The highest stall you can do for stock internals is 3800. I would say the 3500 or 3600 stall would be better for feeling more streetable when driving around town.

So for stock internals (stock heads/cam) I'd say your list looks perfect. 3500 stall with 2.0 to 2.5 str, 3.42 gears, trans cooler and then get it tuned and correct speedo either at a performance shop or with a device like ls1-edit.

Oh yeah there are two things you are gonna need to add to that list.

1). Drag Radials. The newly found torque will eat street tires in no time. Get some Nitto 555r's or BFG DR.

2). Get a Driveshaft safety loop (DSL) because you will be seeing some 12 second passes with drag radials on the back and a 3500 TC.

Good Luck and your setup looks right on

there are a few devices for sale that can be used to adjust your cars computer. They can do things like change shift points, clear and evaluate ses lights, change the factory set top speed limit and adjust speedo.

The three most popular ones are HPP3, Predator and ls1-edit. HPP3 is the least expensive but also does the least amount of things. Predator is better because it'll do everything hpp3 does and alot more. Ls1-edit is the best because it has the most features but you need a laptop computer to use it and it's the most expensive. See hpp3 and predator are hand held devices that plug right into your car but ls1-edit is a program you load onto your laptop computer and then plug the computer into your car.

When you upgrade gears it affects your speedometer (speedo). So after adding taller gears you may find that the speedometer says your doing 55 when in fact your doing 45. It might be reversed, I don't remember if it says your going faster or slower then you actually are but regardless it'll be annoying to have an inacurate speedometer. So to correct this you have to program your car with one of the above devices so the computer knows you have 3.42, 3.73 or 4.10 gears.

I have not personally had to do this because I don't want to upgrade my 3.23's. I think they are the perfect gear for me because they work well with the 3600 stall TC and 100 shot of N20 I plan to run in the future. For you I would suggest either buying a predator if you don't have a laptop($400) or ls1-edit if you have laptop ($500). Then post back here when you have the gears installed and programmer in hand asking how to makle the changes. I'm sure someone will be able to talk you through it.

Or you can just get all the stuff (TC, Trans cooler, Gears, Shift kit) and take it to a performance shop like speedinc here in Illinois. They specialize in f-bodys and high performance vehicles so they can install the stuff and then adjust your speedo/shiftpoints/tm to occomodate your gears and TC (for an additional fee I'm sure). Then you don't have to mess with it yourself.

Good Luck

Any gear other than the factory gear will require a reprogram. Also in most cases, a high stall canverter will cause the motor to hit the rev limiter before it shifts so you'll need a programmer anyway.
For a converter get a 3500 with a STR of around 2.5.
Check my sig for what the combo your talking about runs. It's what I'm running.
And you will need drag radials or better

Between $1500 and $2000 depending on the converter choice and how you get the gears. I bought a used stick car rear and just bolted it right in.
