Question my car "should" have 3.73's

My RPO codes say I have 3.73's, but it just doesnt seem like it by looking at my RPMs.

Going down the freeway, at 80mph in 6th gear I'm at 1800 rpm. Does that seem way too low to be right to anyone else?

opinions...?

What RPOcode do you have for axle? Never seen 3.73 offered in and '02. RPO codes I found are as follows:

GU2 Axle, Rear 2.73 Ratio
GU4 Axle, Rear 3.08 Ratio
GU5 Axle, Rear 3.23 Ratio
GU6 Axle, Rear 3.42 Ratio
G80 Axle, Rear Posi-traction (Limited Slip)

Hmm, I dont quite remember offhand. I bought my car used from a guy who was the senior manager at a chevy dealership ... is it possible he got extra tweaks? I know it took FOREVER to find the code for it.

But lets say I'm wrong. What rpms should a car with 3.73's be running?

No LS1's came with 3.73's, so their would be no code for it.

Sorry ... someone is yankin' your chain. You can't get a numeric higher than a 3.42 gear from the factory. Even if you want the dealer to install a different gear, they can't order higher than a 3.42 ... it's not in the system.

When my rear blew out, I decided to change the ratio. They searched but could only get a 2.73, 3.23, or 3.42. But, if I brought them a set, they would install them for me.

So, I brought them a set of Motive 4.11 gears.

Here's an easier sheet to use to calculate your RPM / speed. You want the speed.xls file.
