OH NO, Camaro suffering..slowly falling apart...weird problems...

for starters 2 days ago it started running on 7 cylinders. One of the spark plugs stopped working so it sent a surge back to the power pack and blew it. So I had to replace a plug, wire and coilpack....that sucked.

Then I think the freakin drivers side window motor is about to break becqause that window is going up slower and slower everytime.

now the headers are leaking because something always vibrates when I am driving in first gear and when i pass walls or other cars i can actually hear the exhaust leaking.......

i am starting to get weary about my car.....i generally never had a problem with it untill now. Anyone else having technical difficulty with their car's?

Unfortunately, bad power window motors are a given with the F-car.

I HAVE HAD MY DRIVERS WINDOW MOTOR/RELAY REPLACED TWICE. WINDOW WIPER CONTROLLER REPLACED. THE POWER DOOR LOCKS OCCASIONALLY DECIDES NOT TO WORK (BUT WORKS FINE WHEN I AM AT THE DEALER ) I HAVE TO TAKE THE CAR BACK SOON BECAUSE THE HATCH WILL NOT OPEN UNLESS I PUSH THE HATCH RELEASE BUTTON (DOUBLE CLICK) 4-5 TIMES.....OH AND THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW WILL NOT ROLL ALL THE WAY UP. MY CAR HAS 16,000 MILES ON IT!!!!
LAST MONTH I BOUGHT THE GM EXTENDED (NO DEDUCTIBLE) WARRANTY. I AM SURE THAT IS THE BEST MONEY I EVER SPENT

Ya gotta love those F-Bodies.

My window is going out, oh well.

Ferocity, if you got a mustang, you would have all sorts of different problems happening and you'd be slower than F-bodies.

I guess I have been lucjy as the only thing that has geon wrong with my '01 is the spring that holds tension on the clutch pedal popped off.

The bad news is, even though the car only has 28K miles, most of the warranty is voided (cam, headers, full suspension etc). The good news is, the power window motors are probably still covered

Thumbs up

Only probs I've had were a malfunctioning mirror and I blew the power steering pump. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the car...sorry about your bad luck.

Yes but the aftermarket for Mustangs is many many times larger and many many times cheaper.

Problems - Z/28 vs Mustang

My 2002 bone stock Z/28 has 53,000 highway miles, w/ Mobil 1 since the first change @ 1000 miles. At about 30k, the rear end started leaking.......it took 3 visits to the dealer and I'm still not sure it's fixed. Now there's the sound of excessive valve lash from the left bank @ 1900- 2000 rpm. Worried that either the adjustment has backed off, or there's rapid wear in the cam/lifter, pushrod/rocker/valve, or maybe a collapsed lifter.

Anyone have a similar problem???

By the way this is my second Z/28.......the first a '68 302 that was sold 20 years ago.

Anyway my personal experience with Mustang vs Camaro problems is that my 1993 Mustang Cobra is nowhere as fast as the Z, but after 170,000 miles and 10 years, the only problems have been a throwout bearing @ 9000 miles, water pump @ 90,000 and ball joints @ 145,000 miles. I may bring myself bad luck, but the power windows/door locks, everthing else still works fine.......it even has the original brake pads and clutch, and it's been driven hard. I'm driving it 87 miles one way to work each day while the Z/28's valve noise is diagnosed and fixed.

since i started this post....my power window motor went out last night in chicago....with my luck....during the rain, and the exhaust fell off on the way to the dealer.....talk about crap.....but the exhaust was warrantied because the bolts right after the catalytic converter were rusted through and fell off...so that's being fixed......talk about horrible luck........

I am so happy the sales guy talked me into the warranty. Damn, best 2,000 I ever spent.....and so far the ac compressor went out...1,300 repair.....front bearings went out...like another..$900 repair...and now the window and exhaust.....its still stock....so that's why its warrantied.......

I am dying to get my car to speed.inc.....I have headers and loudmouth and 4.10 gear waiting to be put on. can't wait.....

only problems i've had so far are: both power window motors went bad, t-tops leaked (took 6 tries for dealer to fix), bad coolant level sensor, and bad ABS module. all happened before 36K miles, so were under warranty. so far, haven't had anything go wrong since then. currently 61K miles...

My LS1 only has 4K miles and already I had the rotors replaced once, alarm shock sensor replaced with only 600 miles, the clutch smells burnt a lot, the rear whines and it has piston slap of course. My 89 5.0 stang with 144K miles has no engine problems but the t-5 had to be replaced along with about 7k dollars in replacing wornout parts. Mainly suspension. My stang users rotors about every 20K miles and a quart of oil every 200 miles, leaking oil pan gasket. I have gone back and worth with the idea of selling the LS1 and putting a motor in the stang. I don't trust the reliability of f-bodies. I will see how things go with the LS1 in the next year. My window motors in my stang still work great, faster than the camaro. Only one power lock works though.

The aftermarket for Mustangs has to be cheaper. Girls aren't as willing to spend money on their cars as guys are.
