Talking modded ss or z28

Is it better to get a stock/lightly modded ss/z28 or a ss/z28 that already has major mods like with 450+ horsepower? I planned on using it as a daily driver also wut years did the ls6 intake come on the z28/ss???

'01-'02 has LS6 intake...personally i wouldnt buy a heavily modded car. odds are its been through hell...people mod their cars for a reason lightly modded or stock is the way to go.

Re: modded ss or z28

Try searching for threads on "Z28 vs SS".....the SS is mostly an appearance package, with a little suspension upgrade thrown in (and better factory options for exhaust, to be more specific). Get whichever car YOU LIKE, and modded to the extent that you'd like it to be modded (basically, do you want for everything to already be done, or would you like to do most of the work yourself? ).

I thought ss was only suspension if you got the slp edition or if you had a lt1, i thought normal ss's are just hood and spoiler and rims and emblems...

Just because a car is lightly or stock appearing doesn't mean it hasn't been modded or raced.
I've bought most of my parts from guys returning their cars back to stock for trade in. I've seen many f-bodies that were heavily modded and raced regularly get returned back to stock.

There are different degrees of hell.

Compare one that is raced weekly on a track/street to one like mine that is driven daily with the rare race. Again, compare one that ran high 12's NA with street tires to one that ran 11's spraying on drag radials w/out SFCs. Compare an M6that has been repeatedly shifted hard with a shifter that doesn't have the positive stops to one that hasn't or an A4 that had loose converter and no trans cooler to one that has only ran the stock converter.
Engine aside, this all takes a toll on the tranny, rear, clutch, brakes and suspension also.

You took the words right outa my mouth . I know people who have had a ton of track time and had a few mods to their F-bods that returned them back to stock form for 2 reasons..Oneeople assume" wich are right half the time " its been beat 2:They can get more out of the car and mods bye selling them sperately.
But I also know people who have HEAVILY modded F-bods that never drive them hard at all . I have a friend who has a twin turbo Vette and he wont even crack on it . He " doesnt want to tear it up " who knows ?
Good luck on you'r search .
