How long do you go between oil changes using synthetics?
I have always done it at 3kmi intervals, but I was wondering how long other people wait. The last time I changed the oil I intentionally did not reset my oil change light to see how long it said I could go. According to that, I can go 6200 miles between oil changes, (which I would never do) I know the monitor i based on engine speeds and temperatures and not mileage, does any one actually blindly trust this feature?

It all depends how & where you drive your car. If you live in dusty conditions, do a lot of stop & go driving, &/or do a lot of racing/high rpm driving then 3k is right, if you drive like an old lady & do a lot of highway driving then you can get away with more. I change mine every 3k....
I "bounce" between Mobil1 & Wal Mart Super Tec 10-30.
My personal rule of thumb is 4K on the Wally World oil & 5K on the Mobil1 , or when the light comes on, whichever comes first .
I have all the confidence in the world when in comes to synthetics, but all in all oil is fairly cheap whereas the motor is not !!
Thus, better safe than sorry.
On Dino oil I go 3K - that's it.
I know lot's of people that have gone 5K on Dino & gotten long life out of their motors - bully for them. I'd rather not take any chances.
FWIW, I *believe* that the Wally World synthetic is made by Quaker State.
Why ?
Q.S. is the only oil manufacture that I know of that labels their syns either "full" or "partial".
I could be wrong, though.

Also I have a friend at work with a 4 banger Toyota truck stick with over 430K, same motor. He uses the old Mobile 1 that me and a few others drain out of their cars at 3K. Would make a good comercial for Toyota and Mobile 1 I guess.
