maybe a dumb question
Why did GM change the firing order for the LS1? Is there any advantage to this order, beside the more balanced back and forth L,R,L,R... instead of L,R,R,L,R,L,L,R ??
Would the alternating bank firing system help reduce the need for a crossover pipe on a true dual system since the exhaust pulses would be evenly spaced instead of doubled up every other time?
ok, how about these ideas:
Firing order as it was, had 5 firing right before 7 (adjacent cylinders). Seems like this could
A) Create excessive heat between the cylinders. Anyone know where the most common block and/or head crack area is?
B) Create fuel/air delivery problems? With those two firing right together, can the intake accurately deliver the SAME amount of fuel and air to each cylinder, or will the first cylinder rob a little of what should go to the second? And would this second problem be solved by direct port fuel injection?
