Just to make sure: you want to fit the catback system fit on a LS1 ??? OK, here it is : no problem at all, just cut the last two 90 degrees bends off the cat-back and clamp it to the stock LS1 Y-pipe. I once bought a 3" cat back system for my 99 Z28 that was designed for a 93-97 and made it fit the way I just described. Welding in a adapter piece would be a "nice to have" thing but is not really necessary..... my 3" intermediate pipe is part of a JC Whitney exhaust setup which sounded terrible so I replaced the muffler with a Flowmaster still using the 3" pipe....

hope this helps...

OOOooops, just thought about this : I made a 3" I pipe fit the stock Y-pipe... if the Hooker has a 2.5" I-pipe you'll very likely need an adapter piece to make it a "bolt on" to your Y-pipe.
In addition you'll have to cut the stock I-pipe in order to get it out (almost forgot the pain I went through trying to remove it without cutting) .... if you want to get it out in one piece you'll have to lower the rear axle, which is not worth the time..... if you ever want to change it back to the stock exhaust just weld it back in place. (that will most likely be right before you sell the car)
Think about the beer..... good luck and success
