MAF screen removal

Hey, i have the larger flow MAF from SLP. It has a removalbe screen. Is it ok to remove that screen? Will it cause harm to the engine? Is it even worth the time of takeing the MAF out?

Re: MAF screen removal

Not worth it.

FYI, I've been told by several engine builders that the stock MAF flows plenty for a 450+ hp engine.

I got it not just for the flow but the SLP larger MAF also advances your timing, i actually am getting about .1 better at the track too...and i got it for a good price on ebay.

I have an SLP MAF. Everyone I spoke with said to leave the screen in. You are already getting the advantage of the bigger bore and the screen actualy helps to straighten your air flow out.

I ran a ported/descreened stock MAF and had very lean conditions that caused detonation aroud 4500 RPM.

I installed ported MAF ends on my 01 Z28 A4, and then had the vehicle dyno tuned 1 week later, due to a TC change.

I was running very lean on the dyno, however the tuner was able to correct the condition.

UNLESS YOU ARE PLANNING TO HAVE THE VEHICLE DYNO TUNED, LEAVE THE MAF ALONE.
