M6 problem, yes again!!

Alright guys, We've got a really Sh!tty situation here. Since I bought my car a month ago, I've noticed 3rd was kinda funny. Well, the other night I was running around town, nothing to do, so of course I was "practicing". Running through the gears 1-2, 2-3, WHAM!! popped out of gear and grinded like hell. Ever since then it'll feel like its in gear, but grind like hell and pop out. You can slam it into gear or push it in pretty good and it holds (normal easy driving. . . where I'm used to putting the shifter and it being in 3rd..is no longer 3rd), SOMETIMES on WOT runs it almost feels like I can't even get it into 3rd gear. Just wondering if anyone knew what the deal was and also how to get dealer to replace the whole transmission instead of "rebuilding" it. I just hate to have a 'redneck Jackson, MS' rebuilt tranny in my car.

TIA
~Eric

Hey ... my hometown (almost) I'm from Jackson, MS, but been in Memphis since '84.

What you have is a bent shift fork. One of these days your tranny is going to get stuck in 4th. This exact thing happened to a friend of mine and she decided to have her tranny rebuilt with parts out of a Viper. Same tranny, but better internals.
